Early Life
Lizzo has interest in singing and rapping from her early childhood days. She started rapping as a teenager and formed a musical group “Cornrow Clique” at the age of 14. This was the time in her life when she renamed herself “Lizzo” after getting inspired by the song “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” by Jay-Z.
Later in 2011, she moved to Minneapolis and started performing with various groups. Her debut album “Lizzobangers” was a hip hop and was released in 2013. That album was a huge success. Then she toured with “Har Mar Superstar” in the fall of 2013. In 2014, she shared the stage with St. Paul and the Broken Bones and performed “A Change Is Gonna Come”.
Later, she was seen in StyleLikeU’s “What’s Underneath” project where she shared her views about her body and wrote, “My Skin”, describing it as “The Thesis Statement” for her next album.

Her second album “Big Grrrl Small World” was released in 2015. She hosted the live music performance show “Wonderland” in 2016. Her first extended play “Coconut Oil” was also released in the same year. Her lead single from the same album “Good as Hell” was released in the film “Barbershop: The Next Cut”. That extended play received huge applause from all over the world. She started 2018 with a tour with Haim and Florence and the Machine.
In addition to that, she also gave voice performances in “UglyDolls” and “Hustlers”. In 2017, her single “Water me” was released which was more than 7 million views.
In 2019, her third album was released with the release of “Juice” singles, and later her next album “Cuz I Love You” was released. She was also seen performing at Coachella Music Festival. All this brought her mainstream attention, and she was ranked among the top charts on Billboard. Her song “Minnesota Vikings” from her album “Truth Hurts” was among the top 100 songs on Billboard for more than 7 weeks. She performed this song while playing flute at “the 2019 BET Awards”.
In the summer of 2019, she regularly performed at many programs including Glastonbury Festival and the Sacramento pride festival. Her 2016 single “Good as Hell” was also again featured in the Billboard charts again this year.
She was a musical guest at “Saturday Night Live” hosted by Eddie Murphy, and also performed at the Sydney Opera House.
